Yailin Serrano, an 18-year-old senior at Madill High School, has been a part of the school community for her entire life. Raised by her parents, Eva and Juan Serrano, and having two siblings, Brandon and Dylan Serrano, Serrano said she grew up in a close-knit family that has provided her with love, support and guidance.
Throughout her high school years, Serrano has been actively involved in various sports and activities. She has been a dedicated member of the track and cross country teams, where she has not only honed her athletic skills but also formed strong friendships with her teammates.
 

Serrano said her favorite memory from her time in high school is the thrill of running alongside her teammates, pushing each other to reach new heights and celebrating their accomplishments together. In the realm of sports, Serrano said she finds inspiration in her older brother Brandon. Watching him excel in his athletic pursuits has motivated her to push herself further and strive for greatness..
Outside of the sports arena, Serrano said she finds inspiration in her parents. Their unwavering love, sacrifices and constant encouragement have instilled in her the values of hard work and perseverance. Serrano credited her parents for always believing in her and pushing her to pursue her dreams.
 

As Serrano prepares to bid farewell to her high school years, she expressed her gratitude to her coaches. She acknowledged their hard work and dedication, which have made her high school athletic career memorable. Serrano said she is thankful for the time, energy and expertise that her coaches have invested in shaping her into the athlete she is today.
Serrano also took a moment to express her appreciation to her parents. She thanked them for their unwavering support, endless sacrifices, and belief in her abilities. Serrano recognized that she would not have achieved her accomplishments without her parents' guidance and encouragement.
 

Looking ahead, Serrano said she has plans to attend the University of Oklahoma after high school. She is excited to continue her academic pursuits and explore new opportunities. To her younger classmates, Serrano offered a word of advice: have fun and enjoy the moment. She encouraged them to embrace the high school experience, cherish every moment, and make the most of the opportunities that come their way. Serrano said she knows firsthand how quickly the four years of high school can pass, and she encourages her peers to make lasting memories and forge lifelong friendships.
 

As Serrano reflected onher senior year and looks towards the future, she is filled with gratitude for the memories, friendships and life lessons that she will carry with her. Madill High School has been more than just a place of education for Serrano—it has been a second home and a community that has shaped her into the person she is today.
With a heart full of gratitude, Serrano and her fellow seniors are ready to embrace the next chapter of their lives and chase their dreams with  passion and determination.
