Madill Powerlifting takes 6th at state

Madill’s powerlifting team utilized several top event finishes to claim sixth place as a team in the ultra-competitive Class4Adivisionattherecent State Powerlifting Championships in El Reno.

The Wildcats tallied a total of 39 points to finish one point out of the Top 5 just behind Woodward.

Leading the charge for the Madill lifters was senior Anthon Rios, who was state runner-upintheheavyweight division with a three lift total of 1,615 pounds.

Rios scored first place honors in the bench press at 365 pounds and deadlift at a whopping 625 pounds. He also added a 625 pound lift in the squat.

At 157 pounds, Jayden McCain was the state titlist in the deadlift at 500 pounds andplacedfifthonbenchwith a mark of 265 but scratched on the squat to fall short of placing overall.

OsvaldoAriciagawas11th overall at 157 with a three-lift mark of 1,080 pounds with ChristianRobledojustbehind in 12th with a total of 1,025 pounds.

Ariciaga posted a third place showing of 275 pounds in bench while adding 365 on squat and 440 in deadlift. Robledo notched a 335 on squat, 235 bench and 465 pounds in deadlift.

Rounding out the Wildcat placers was Eli West at 168 pounds as he claimed third in bench press as well as adding 315 on squat and 405 in deadlift for a 985 pound total.
