Madill baseball fields to receive upgrades

TheCityofMadillwillsoon have some updated baseball fields. The fields, otherwise known as the field on the hill, will be getting a new facelift. Thanks to efforts by the city, funds are being raised to convert the fields into more modern baseball fields. Madill City Manager James Fullingim said the fields have been needing upgrades for some time.

“We have about $3,500 in an account for funding the project and a private donor has promised another $10,000 in donations.” said Fullingim. “The baseball fields are more than 40 years old, at least.”

Currently, the plans are still being ironed out and more funding is needed. Fullingim noted that even though they are still in need of funds, plans are underway.

“The tee-ball field will be turned into a parking lot and the other two fields will be updated.” Fullingim said about the project and the plans for the updates.

There are other items on the list such as a new concession. seating and fencing. Fullingim said he hopes this project will benefit the community by encouraging baseball, softball, and little leagues to start up again.
