A grand retirement party for Debbie Croasdale Marshall County Assessor Friday,November4,2022, at the Marshall County expo center was the venue for a grand occasion. It was a retirement party for Debbie Croasdale who has served Marshall County since 1989. The party consisted of formal table settings complete with flowers a lunch buffet and a cake fit for a queen.

Croasdale served as MC Assessor for seven terms and was unopposed the entire time. Croasdale is one of the longest serving assessor in the state. Croasdale was among the most liked public servants as other assessors came to the retirement party from all over the state, some many hours away, just to show their respect and appreciation. Cindy Byrd from the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Office was in attendance as well as the longest serving Assessor in the state Glendale Rushing from Bryant County. There was an abundance of folks from various offices throughout the state counties, in fact, more than 75 people attended.

The retirement party started with a prayer to bless the meal and went on to include a few words from folks about Croasdale. They also spoke about how much they appreciated her service and how wonderful of a person she is.

Next, on the party agenda, was the buffet meal including homemade dishes and pizza. Pictures seemed to be the most important part of the event and Croasdale made sure everyone was included in pictures with her. Even though Croasdale got choked up, she said she loved every aspect of her job.

“I love my job and have loved it since the day I started, but I don’t love it anymore I am retiring from it and have given it all I care to so I am going to do something else now,” Croasdale said modestly.

Croasdale did not exactly say what else she plans after retiring but she mentioned that it was not going to be work.Atthetimeoftheparty, Croasdale did not know who was going to fill her shoes as the election results had yet to be collected and a few more votes were still to come. However, she endorsed Kyleigh Wescott and mentioned that she trained Wescott.

Croasdale hoped all her efforts in training Wescott would pay off on election day, and it certainly did. A campaign

watch party was held at The Oil Spill restaurant on the square at Madill to await the results.

Needless to say, the watch party turned out exactly how Croasdale and Wescott hoped. Not only did these two prepare for the winning result but the entire Assessor office, many other folks were there for support.

It turned out the watch party was more of a changing of the gaurd for a bright future for Marshall County and one that Wescott is more than prepared to accept. Croasdale saidthat Wescott is more than qualified to assume the position.

Croasdalenotedshewould always be available for a phone call. What better way to show the county that she truly loves it?
