The Ardmore Little Theatre Inc. presented their latest presentation “Elvis has Left the Building.” The production by Cate and Duke Ernsberger packed the house in late April. It was directed by John Pryor and performed in the Oak Hall Episcopal School in Ardmore due to renovations on the theater itself.

Upon entering the auditorium, Pryor said shone light on the hardships of constantly moving venues.

“We are challenged with different venues and in fact we literally finished with our set at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.,” Pryor said. “This is Gorilla Theatre at its best.” What he meant by this was something like warfare since they are not at their home stage.

“Elvis has Left the Building” is the perfect title for this show and the true meaning becomes evident within the plot quick. ALT seems to always put their personal flair into a show and this time some of the phrases really caused a gas.

A few hilarious monikers were The Memphis Mafia, , The Mouth of Memphis and Ole of Opera. The Colonel is Elvis’s bookie or agent and just so happens he also has a huge gambling habit. The Colonel racks up a huge debt and signs an IOU to the casino promisingaperformance of Elvis.

As if doing so was not problem enough in many ways, Elvis is missing and out of action. Through a series of hilarious events the idea of an impersonator comes to life. Two protégés arise and through some quick training and outfit selection, one is selected.

The cover up is a success and clears up the IOU. However, as habit calls, the Colonel racks up yet another debt consequently this surprise wraps up the skit. The Elvis impersonators end the show with some singing and famous moves. The crowd went crazy and concluded with a standing ovation.
