Blake Shelton has a reputation formakingimpromptu appearances at various Ole Red locations. Friday, August 11 was no different.

Shelton, along with his wife Gwen Stefani, did it once more. This time, they had a special guest appearance from an artist making his debut at The Doghouse at Ole Red.

Fans might wonder if on that one day they’re having a meal or sitting at the bar at Ole Red Tishomingo, will that be the day Shelton walks through the door. That’s exactly what happened to the patrons having dinner Friday night.

This location has an intimate stage in the dining area where performers entertain throughout business hours. Shelton just happened to be the entertainment this night. Prior to this evening, Shelton hinted on social media that he was going to be in town looking around. This news flash had fans scattering to find out the unknown details. Shelton enthusiasts followed the Twitter and Facebook accounts like they were waiting for the last winning lottery ball to drop for updates to gain entry to the event.

Shelton wrote on Twitter “Not a big deal just maybe play a few songs, I’ll send an update for y’all in a day or so!” Old Red Tishomingo shared Shelton’s post and wrote “This is going to be special.” Their page also stated it would be “first come, first served.”

This sent fans into a frenzy, and they began to line up early Friday morning at 7:45 a.m. Followers drove to Tishomingo from as far as Salt Lake City, Utah. One couple had race tickets when they saw the post and scratched the race and headed to Oklahoma.

Cole Streit, who is in the Navy at Tinker Air Force Base and his wife Amanda, also dropped what they were doing to attend. “We weren’t sure we would make it,” Cole said.

Friends Ashley Hale and CortneyKubaladroveinfrom Oklahoma City. Taylor Potthoff, from Iowa, was visiting family In Durant said she visits the venue every time she’s in town, this time, she hit the jackpot.

“We come to Ole Red every time we are in town,” Potthoff said.

Ashely Hearon traveled from Waxahachie, Texas and Jan Garner from Boreham said they “go see him at Mayfest every year in Nashville and love it.”

Shelton took to the stage first, singing acoustical starting off with “Honey Bee” which was followed by fan favorites “Austin”, “God’s Country”, “Ol Red” and “Boys ‘Round Here”.

Then, the time had come to introduce the special guest to the stage. It was then that Shelton introduced his 17-year-old stepson Kingston Rossdale. The celebrity said he was honored to introduce Rossdale to the stage.

“I’m very excited, actually honored to be the first to introduce this guy to the stage for the first time ever,” Shelton said. “This guy’s an artist, he’s the real deal and you guys are able to say that you were there at his very first performance.”

“His music is rock, so I bet we got some rock fans out here,” Shelton continued. “He’s only 17 years old. Everybody, hereheisMr.Kingston Rossdale everybody.”

Kingston took the stage with the confidence of a veteran performer. His interaction with the crowd was phenomenal and grateful. Rossdale seemed excited and proud as he received an encouraging hug from Shelton. Stefani said the event was emotional.

“I have been crying just watching him,” Stefani said.

He was accepted by the crowd with open arms and now anticipating what great things are in Rossdale’s future. Finally, with great expectations Stefani made her appearance on stage for her first song, belting out “Don’t Speak” with Shelton playing guitar. Shelton and Stefani didn’t leave the crowd waiting long before they went right into their duets, “Nobody but You” and “Happy Anywhere.”

Shelton took the stage promptly at 7:30 p.m. and said he was surprised.

“I didn’t think it would be such a huge crowd,” Shelton said.
