Gecko's restaurant, a place for the community

Gecko's Mexican Grill & Cantina, owned by Michele Moore, is a popular Tex-Mex restaurant located at 1006 Hwy 70 E in Kingston. Moore has owned Gecko's for almost six years and said she has found immense joy in the people she gets to meet every day and her amazing team Moore said one of her fondest memories at Gecko's is during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a relatively new owner, she struggled to keep the business afloat.

However, the Kingston community rallied around her, showing tremendous support. Even when the dining room was closed, there was a constant line of people picking up dinner.

When they were able to open with limited capacity, everyone patiently waited for their turn or happily sat outside. Moore said it felt like a true miracle that Gecko's not only survived but thrived, all thanks to the unwavering support of the Kingston community.

Beforebecomingtheowner of Gecko's, Moore worked as a substitute teacher for Kingston Schools. Prior to that, she served as a phlebotomist at McKinney Medical Center in Texas, enduring early morning shifts that she definitely does not miss.

Moore and her husband moved to Kingston in 2013 and fell in love with the town. Three of their grown children also reside there, and they have a daughter attending college.

Gecko's recently built a brandnewbuildingtoprovide a more comfortable working environment for their staff and enhance the dining experience for their guests. The new establishment features a large patio where they plan to host live music events.

They also added a bigger bar area and a party room that the community can use freeofcharge.Thepartyroom accommodatesaminimumof 25 guests and can seat up to 50 people.

Moore said he goal is to continue growing and meeting the needs of their community and guests. She and her staff take pride in providing a space where people can gather and create cherished memories with their loved ones. For Moore and her team, Gecko's is much more than just a place for tacos. It is a fun place to work and a great place to eat.

SituatedrightonHighway 70, which runs through Marshall County, Gecko's is conveniently located in Kingston, just east of the Super C Mart. Every Tuesday, they offer half-price margaritas, and their margaritas have even been voted the 'Best Margaritas'atLakeTexoma.
