1st Annual 5K Bubble Run a success

The Kingston Place Making Committee held their first annual 5K Bubble Run and FoamPartyonSaturdayMay 6. The event was held in the Kingston Park.

The committee encouraged everyone to come and enjoy the day. They had a wonderful turnout, from runners to kids enjoying the foam. The Kingston High School Cheerleaders and Middle School students raised funds for the youth to travel to Washington, D.C.

All that attended enjoyed music, outdoor games, BBQ andabakesaleraisingmoney for the trip. This event was made possible by the KPMC and several sponsors and donations. Water was provided by Lakeside Family Medicine and First United Bank donated snacks.

A sign was made for the run by Sign Gypsies and Kristi Adkins donated the start and finish arches from The Kelly Erwin Scholarship Fund. There were many volunteers and guests alike.

The KPMC, along with Ace Kingston Hardware, is hosting four beautification contests within the Kingston Town Limits. The first one took place on April 1 for “Best Decorated” front porch. The winners were announced at the 5K. Josh and Chelsea Buckaloo won first place with a $100 gift card. Second and third place winners were RichardTeskeandMaryBeth Grindle with both receiving $50 gift cards.

It’s not too late to decorate take advantage of the next contest. Contestants should decorate their front porch for the contest to be held on Saturday June 3. Local businesses can participate as well by decorating their storefront in the most patriotic way possible for judging July 1.
